  • No. HANDS Clinic specifically serves adults who do not have insurance. You do not need to have — or get — insurance to receive care here. Our eligibility requirements are based on income and residency, not insurance status.

  • Yes. Diet management and nutrition guidance are core parts of our diabetes program. We also offer broader nutrition education through our Health Education services, which complement your diabetes care plan.

  • Yes. HANDS Clinic serves a bilingual community and has Spanish-speaking staff available. Key communications and patient-facing materials are available in both English and Spanish. If you have a language preference, let us know when you contact us.

  • Eligibility is based on four factors: income level, St. Lucie County residency, age (19–64), and insurance status. The easiest way to find out is to fill out our eligibility form — it only takes a few minutes and will determine whether you qualify for care.

  • Yes. Services at HANDS Clinic are provided at no cost to eligible patients. There are no copays, no fees, and no surprise bills. Most services are completely free; some specialty referrals may be at a discounted rate. Your care team will always be upfront with you about what's included.

  • We can help. Our primary care team provides lab work and assessments that can identify diabetes or pre-diabetes. Early detection makes a significant difference in outcomes — don't wait for symptoms to get worse before reaching out.

  • Diabetes can reduce circulation and sensation in the feet, making injuries slow to heal and prone to infection. Without regular monitoring, minor issues can escalate into serious complications. Regular podiatry visits help catch problems early and prevent outcomes that could affect your mobility and independence.
