HANDS Clinic
Get Involved

It takes neighbors to care for neighbors.

Since 2010, HANDS Clinic has been St. Lucie County’s free clinic for uninsured adults — community-supported and entirely volunteer-driven. There’s a place here for you.

Why Volunteer

Behind every appointment is a neighbor who showed up.

When HANDS Clinic opened its doors in 2010, the math was simple. Thousands of working-age adults in our county were going without basic healthcare, and no one was coming to fix it. So a handful of neighbors decided to do it themselves.

Sixteen years later, the work still runs the same way. Every appointment, every prescription, every routine cleaning that prevents a real problem down the road traces back to a person. A doctor on Tuesday morning. A receptionist who knew the right form. A neighbor who refused to look the other way.

The math, plainly

$14 of care delivered for every $1 donated.”
No paid clinical staff. 5,202+ patient visits each year. The math still adds up — and it adds up because of you.
For Individuals

Volunteer

Donate clinical hours, hands at the front desk, or your fundraising network. HANDS Clinic is powered entirely by people who show up.

  • Doctors, dentists, hygienists, and vision specialists
  • General volunteers — reception, intake, translation
  • Fundraising volunteers — events, drives, donor outreach
For Organizations

Partner

We can’t do it alone. Hospitals, faith communities, businesses, and civic groups make free care possible in St. Lucie County.

  • Underwrite a service line for the year
  • Donate medical supplies, equipment, or space
  • Host a fundraiser or community drive
Ways to Volunteer

Find your fit.

Whether you have a license, an afternoon, or a network for raising funds — we have a place for you.

Apply to volunteer

Volunteer Doctors

FL license required

Physicians and physician assistants donate hours each month to see patients in their specialty. Limited licenses are available in select areas for out-of-state providers.

Volunteer Dentists

FL dental license required

Treat patients in our in-clinic dental program or accept specialty referrals at your own office.

Hygienists & Assistants

FL license for hygienists

Clean teeth, take X-rays, support exams, and keep our dental program moving. Assistants do not need a clinical license.

Vision Specialists

FL license required

Ophthalmologists and optometrists screen and treat patients with no vision insurance — sight-saving work, often catching disease at the exam table.

General Volunteers

No clinical background needed

Front desk, patient intake, dispensary organization, translation, clerical support. Reliability and warmth required. Part-time, full-time, and seasonal welcome.

Fundraising Volunteers

Network + initiative

Help us host events, run community drives, manage donor outreach, or chair a campaign. If your superpower is rallying people behind a cause, we want to talk.

Licensed clinical roles are covered by malpractice insurance through the State of Florida’s Volunteer Health Care Providers Program. Questions about credentialing or to discuss a custom commitment, email storm@handsofslc.org.
